Leadership Class 36 International Seminar Report: Vietnam and Cambodia
View the final report from newly-graduated Leadership Class 36 regarding their International Seminar trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in January 2015. The seminar allowed the participants an opportunity to compare and contrast the two countries through study of their culture, history and natural resource industries.
Meeting with US Ambassador Ted Osius and representatives of the US Embassy in Hanoi provided everyone a better understanding of Vietnamese and US trade and issues throughout Southeast Asia. Agricultural trade between the US and Southeast Asia was discussed with Francis Lee of the United Based Company, Ltd., who facilitates trade of Washington State products. Historical and cultural experiences were provided by visits including:
- Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia - a temple complex and largest religious monument in the world
- A briefing at the Port of Hai Phong in Vietnam and a reception dinner with Hai Phong city government and business leaders
- A tour of the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields Memorial in Phnom Penh
